Before Install Day
This is the biggest day of the five and the one where prep actually saves you time. Fifteen minutes the night before makes the whole day easier.
Before We Arrive
- Clear a wide, straight path from the door to the equipment. Old units come out and new ones go in, and they are heavy and awkward. Rugs, coat racks, and anything in a hallway should move.
- Clear a work zone around the equipment. Give us a few feet on all sides of the furnace, air handler, or water heater. Boxes and storage stacked against it need to move out of the room, not just to the side.
- Same outside. Clear the space around the condenser pad and the route to it.
- Clear the driveway completely. Install day means more than one vehicle and materials coming off the truck. Move the cars the night before, not when we are already parked on the street.
- Pick the door we will be running through. Cords, hoses, and the equipment itself all come through it, and it will be propped open for stretches. Clear the hallway and the entry on the inside of that door too.
- Pets and small kids should be somewhere else that day if possible. Doors will be propped open for stretches and there will be tools and sharp metal on the floor.
- Plan for the utility to be off for a while. No heat or AC during a system swap, no hot water during a water heater swap. Run the dishwasher and the showers beforehand.
- Someone 18 or older needs to be home for the day, at least at the start and the end.
What the Day Looks Like
Walkthrough and protection
We confirm the scope and the price you already agreed to, then lay drop cloths on the path and the work area.
Old equipment out
Utilities shut off safely, the old unit disconnected and carried out. On a water heater, the old tank is hauled away and that is included in the price.
New equipment in
Set, connected, and installed to code by our own licensed crew. This is the long part of the day.
Startup and testing
We run the system, check it end to end, and confirm it is doing what it should before anybody packs up.
Cleanup and walkthrough
Work area cleaned, then we walk you through the new system, the thermostat, the filter, and the warranty paperwork.
How Long Does It Take?
Most residential installs are a one-day job. A full system, tricky access, or added ductwork can stretch it. We will give you the honest estimate when we set the date, and we will tell you the same day if anything changes.
A Few Things to Expect
- It gets loud, and doors will be open at times. It is a construction day inside your house.
- Some jobs need a permit and an inspection. If yours does, we will have told you before the date and we handle the filing.
- Comfort Shield parts and labor coverage, $499 to $1,299, can be added on install day if you want it. Ask, but nobody is going to push it on you.
- Nothing about the price changes on install day unless you ask for something extra and approve it in writing first.
After We Are Done
- You get photos of the install and your warranty paperwork.
- Run it for a week and call us if anything feels off. That call is free.
- Put a filter change on your calendar. We will tell you the size and the interval before we leave.
- If the crew did right by you, a Google review is the best thank you we can get.
Common Questions
Do I need to be home all day?
Someone 18 or older should be there at the start and at the end. You do not need to sit through the middle.
What happens to my old equipment?
It leaves with us. On a water heater replacement, haul-away of the old tank is included in the flat price.
Will my house be cold or hot all day?
During a system swap there is a stretch with no heating or cooling. We plan the day to keep it as short as we can.
Is the price locked?
Yes. You get a flat written price before install day and it does not change unless you add something and approve it.
